Is the meal plan included in the housing rate or charged separately?

Georgia Tech's housing rates are room charges per person per semester, while Tech Dining publishes separate 2026–27 meal-plan prices. First-year students living on campus are required to maintain a meal plan.

Can my student change the residence-hall meal plan?

Tech Dining's 2026–27 terms set first-year resident meal-plan requirements and limited exchange/change windows. Fall 2026 meal-plan selection with housing closed July 1, and voluntary changes/cancellations had published deadlines depending on plan type; students should use the current My Housing/meal-plan process rather than assume mid-semester changes are allowed.

What happens to unused meal swipes or Dine In Dollars?

Tech Dining states that unused Dining Dollars roll over until the end of the academic year and then are forfeited. Meal swipes are semester-based and expire on the published term expiration date rather than carrying indefinitely.

Can my student's meal plan pay for a parent or guest meal?

Tech Dining's 2026–27 plan table lists five guest meals with First-Year Everyday Unlimited and zero guest meals with First Year Flex. Parents can also pay the public/door rate independently when a guest entitlement is unavailable.
